Dear Craig,
Hi from Sao Paulo! Tim Burton’s exhibition is making its South American stop here. This painting was one of the best IMO.
love, Alex + Marcelo

A new one from Alex and Marcelo visiting Sao Paulo, and these boys know me better than they think – Tim Burton, my favourite film director? He’s certainly up there. A superb postcard from the exhibition of Burton’s drawings, designs and artwork from his personal collection and his many, many weird and wonderful films which is still touring the world and is currently at home in Sao Paulo’s Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS). It’s hard to choose one image to represent what’s so addictive and appealing about Burton’s work, but this does a pretty good job… on one small piece of card it is in turn macabre and mirthful. This oil on canvas is entitled “Blue Girl with Wine”… a stitched-together suicide? Or a zombified romantic waiting for her date to join her?
Suffice to say this is one of my favourite postcards, beguiling and mind-boggling… and eerily beautiful.
Brings to mind Madonna (the singer)…
