The second castle of the week (after this card from Alnwick) was this postcard from Scotland, from another pal having a day out with the kids… spookily both the Fergusons and the Willises also have a youngest called Arthur, so a castle would seem a suitable place for adventure. This is Caerlaverock Castle in my neck of the woods: southwest Scotland. Rather different to Alnwick, this place is now a ruin but with it’s towers and moat it exudes that fairytale castle charm…. but still retains an impressive air of strength; it has centuries of battle fatigue being close to the border between Scotland and England. Well worth coming off the beaten track for a wander and a root around.
