Two castles were received last week, the first of which was this classic view of Alnwick Castle in Northumberland. A castle has stood on this site for almost 1000 years and the current incarnation is the second largest inhabited castle in the country (after Windsor Castle). Although not noted on this postcard (except in Tom’s message) the site has enjoyed a dramatic rise in visitor numbers in recent years after it was used as filming location for some of the Harry Potter series, and parts of the exterior will be recognisable to fans as Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry.
