Adventures in Deltiology

Do people still send postcards these days…?

The Selfish Giant.

I picked up these two beautiful postcards at the Curzon Soho today, on a visit to see the film itself. It’s a bleak, harrowing and haunting film, with a naturalistic and astonishingly mature central performance by Conner Chapman (pictured on both postcards). The title might not marry up with the subject, taken as it is from the the short story by Oscar Wilde which ‘inspired’ the film (although the link is somewhat lost on me).

Published by Artificial Eye, both postcards feature images on both sides, with an atmospheric landscape shot on the reverse, which doesn’t interfere with the all-important opportunity to write a message and put in the postbox.
