I found myself in a pickle.
On Sunday last I found myself ensconced in 33 Fitzroy Square, the former home of Roger Fry’s Omega Workshops, hangout for the Bloomsbury set and later the London Foot Hospital… but, for a few days the building had been transformed into a Hendrick’s gin palace and ‘Carnival of Knowledge’.
I was there, not only to partake of a few cocktails, but to attend a fascinating talk on London’s coffee-house history by Dr Matthew Green and The Idler Academy. A wonderful afternoon was had by all.
As a postcard collector I’m always on the look out for new editions, usually picking up anything postcard-shaped results in disappointment when I discover it’s just a double-sided flyer. But, kudos to Hendrick’s for producing this comedy card, with plenty of space for a message and a cucumber ‘artistamp’. Nice one!
